Bibimbap Recipe

Ingredients:

For the rice:

  • 2 cups of steamed white rice (short grain or sushi rice)

Vegetable toppings:

  • 1 zucchini, julienned
  • 1 large carrot, julienned
  • 1 bunch of spinach
  • 100g bean sprouts
  • 4-5 shiitake mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cucumber, thinly sliced

Meat (Optional):

  • 200g ground beef (or chicken/tofu for a vegetarian option)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Additional toppings:

  • 4 eggs (1 per serving)
  • Sesame seeds, toasted
  • Kimchi (optional, as a side)
  • Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • Sesame oil (for drizzling)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Rice: Cook your rice in a rice cooker or pot and keep it warm.
  2. Prepare the Meat: In a bowl, mix ground beef with soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, and sugar. Cook in a skillet over medium heat until fully browned. Set aside.
  3. Prepare the Vegetables: Blanch the spinach, squeeze out excess water, and season with salt and sesame oil. Stir-fry the zucchini, carrots, mushrooms, and bean sprouts individually in a hot pan with oil. Season with salt and set aside.
  4. Fry the Egg: In a non-stick pan, fry eggs sunny-side-up, leaving the yolk runny.
